Lord, Change My Attitude
(Before it’s too late)
More often than not, attitude controls outcome. I say to my kids on a regular basis, “Attitude is everything.” And of course that’s hyperbole; it isn’t everything. But let me tell you—it’s a lot.
Our choice of attitude determines if our lives are a garden or a wilderness. A wilderness? Yeah, not a geographical one but a spiritual/emotional desert. Too often, we feel the dry, lifeless, parched experience but fail to connect with where we really are or how we got there. This book goes to that wilderness both with the Israelites in the book of Numbers and with current wanderers like you and me, deciding every moment our choice of attitude. And it is a choice. Believe me—I’m even more convinced of that than ever. If you’ve ever taught the Bible, you know that you’re always the one who derives the most benefit. That’s been the case with this book for me. If I’m in an emotional/spiritual wilderness, I’m the one who put me there but God (in His sufficient grace) has shown us in His Word the way out.
If you’ve ever thought, “Man, my attitude stinks!” it’s not too late to change if the following is true:
- You have decided that you believe attitudes are critically important for your life.
- You understand that attitudes are very important to God.
- You understand that there are serious “wilderness” consequences to wrong attitudes.
- You have decided that you want your attitudes to change.
- You have embraced the idea that you can’t change your attitudes without God’s help.
- You are willing to study God’s Word to learn which attitudes need to change and how to begin.
