Common QuestionsPosted by Luke MacDonald at 02:37 PM | Permalink | Comments (2)I am alive... and married.... Everyone i meet each day seems to ask one these questions. I will no longer answer them... instead refer them to this space. Q: so Luke now that you have married for two months... how are things going? A: well, i have become a master of household duties... all dirt that comes into my apartment must tremble in fear at my oustanding vacuum skills, the dishes have been begging me not to clean so vigorously, and the bed, it recently told me that all the other beds were getting jealous because each morning it was 'made' so majestically. Also my wife is amazing. we have a lot of fun together, and get to hang out all the time, and we are supposed to. it is great. also having my own DVR and TV is really more enjoyable than i would feel comfortable sharing here (what i mean is i don't really have time to watch TV). Q. how was the honeymoon? A. about as good as a week where each day consists of three equal cycles of eating, sitting by the pool, and watching movies would theoretically be. Q. any thoughts on the bus tour? A. it was a blast. God was really working. Landon looks bad in the morning. sleeping in moving vehicles is an activity enjoyed more by myself than possibly anyone else ever. (well at least more than 13 people). Q. are you done with college yet? A. I am in my last semester. 10 hours. Dec. 20 2007. God (and Dr. Finkbeiner Dr. Peterman and Dr. O Neal ) willing. June 19, 2007 a week and a half to goPosted by James MacDonald at 09:02 AM | Permalink | Comments (2)sorry i have not been in this space recently. i have been spending most of my time preparing to live on my own for the first time, calling cable guys and furniture delivery guys and many many "guys" kristen (my fiance) and i are moving into a cool little apartment. since i have an obnoxious amount of clothes at my parents house, yesterday i cleaned out my closet so i would only bring the needed things to the new apartment. probably 70% percent of my closet is now going to the salvation army. i took some of the newer stuff over to a store that buys 'newer' in-style clothes and they gave me 60 bucks for a group of clothes i had probably paid 400 dollars for. it was just a good reminder to me that the things that seem so valuable today, ipods, cell phones, cars etc. will soon just be some old worthless junk, but the word of God never goes out of style. it is always relevant for every season and every problem. god bless you today as you think on these things. L May 16, 2007 Jerry Falwell...Posted by Luke MacDonald at 04:19 PM | Permalink | Comments (4)The power and beauty of the book of Esther is the way God the master, stays behind the curtain, pulling the strings without really showing up very much in person. One of the most famous statements in the Bible comes from faithful Mordecai to young Esther that she had been appointed “for such a time as this†(Esther 4:14). I love that idea that God has chosen a time and place for each one to accomplish a specific purpose. This is what came to mind yesterday when I heard about the death of Jerry Falwell. Back in January my dad, Landon, and I had lunch with Dr. Falwell and several key people from his ministry. As we listened to him talk about all the things Liberty was doing, it amazed me how many balls this guy was juggling. The school he built was staggering. Both in terms of size and influence. He was a controversial figure because he didn’t back down from what he believes. I don’t think I agreed with all of the things he said. However, to a man who serves God with every ounce of his might for a lifetime, walking in integrity in the public spotlight, there is nothing to say except “well done good and faithful servant.†There will never be another one like Jerry Falwell, may we all be so faithful. I must confess that I felt for most of the week long news cycle a little “who cares†about the whole thing. I mean I know that it was important and obviously college and professional sports could not be nearly what they are today without the incredible athletes from every nation and color around the world that we now see, but… Someone had to do it right? April 10, 2007 Easter...Posted by Luke MacDonald at 09:22 AM | Permalink | Comments (0)HE IS RISEN!!!! I am sure that I have never before understood the power of the gospel and resurrection in a way that I did on Sunday. I joined in with 12,247 other people in lifting high the name of Christ through song and a powerful message from my dad on the “Easter Principle.†I was privileged to play guitar and sing backup on the stage as well as lead the song “mighty to save.†I am hopeful that I will be able to post some pictures and maybe even some streaming video. Anyway shine the light today. L March 28, 2007 Something is Percolating....Posted by Luke MacDonald at 08:12 PM | Permalink | Comments (2)A few things to note on a wednesday nite.
