Listen up! Don't get discouraged...
A few questions: Have you calculated the numbers on your food diary? Do you know the percentages of carbs, protein, fat? And total calories? Maybe you need to do some tweaking to your diet (fewer carbs, more protein) in addition to increasing your aerobic exercise.
Also remember, that though you have a short term goal, the wedding, that you are looking to make permanent changes to your lifestyle. There is a great sermon series that I heard one time about change.... :)
Step it up!
Keep it up!
You can do it!

Denise

I was up two pounds this week!! Guess I got a little too cocky about not gaining over Memorial Day weekend. I am upping the exercise to two smaller sessions each day, praying specifically about this each day, and continuing to tighten the straps on food. Hang in there - I'll be praying for you!

You can do this, James. God is so with you. Be strong in Him. We, your sheep, need you to be strong and healthy in order to lead us along this difficult path. We continue to pray for you and have confidence in the One Who hears and answers prayer. Do not be discouraged. You will do this in His strength.

Something that helped me when losing my weight (dropped 80 lbs.) was not weighing myself every week. I mean the most you are going to lose (if you are doing this in a healthy fashion) is 2 lbs. a week.
I went by how my clothes were fitting and how I looked. That told me a greater story than the scale.
Keep it up!

I was up a bit this week. I need to tighten back up on my portion sizes.
I will pray for all of us as we continue on our lifelong journey to better health.
I'm in this with ya! We can do it.

My husband is a big man such as yourself and was up to 212, high for him, and now 6 weeks later he is down to 194. Our doctor asked him how he did it.
I started giving him meals with no carbs in it. Only veggies. Not corn or peas. Green beans, spinach, beets. Cauliflower, broccoli, lots of tomatoes. Squash, is good.
My husband stopped drinking carbonated drinks and increased his intake of water. Carries water all day.
He no longer gets seconds for dinner and he drinks a V8 each day and eats one banana and one apple during the day. No desserts.
Maybe if you follow the same diet you will lose too. NO SNACKING !!!
8 am Cup of coffee and 4 ozs. Orange juice
9 am sack size baggie of bran flakes eaten as a snack.
11:00 One Peanut butter sandwich made with Whole Wheat bread- crunchy peanut butter, NO JELLY.drink water
12:00 Apple. Water
1:00 cup of coffee Nutri grain bar.
2pm water.one snack size baggie of Big Cheezits.
3pm eat veggies, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, celery, olives, etc.
5 pm. Meat for dinner- fresh fish or chicken - microwaved. Even lean beef is good - broiled and eat lots of veggies like cauliflower and green beans, and or a large salad with tomatoes. Olives have very litte calories. You can eat them as a snack. You can eat a whole can of black olives and I believe they only have 5 calories an olive.
Don't worry about the salad dressing, just don't over do it. Just enough to coat the leaves on the salad. Should be none left in the bottom of the bowl.
I even give him a salad as one of his veggies with his dinner. I use a ceral size bowl. Lettuce, cut up (3/4 cup), 6 black olives, 1/2 a tomato-cut-up - onions if you want, and I do put in some of the tiny carrots then. about 6. Grated cheese colby or sharp chedar on top about 1/8 of a cup.
The idea is you are eating most of the time and often. You do not feel deprived and the things you eat are not fattening. Celery, broccoli, cucumbers. No carbs, except for the bread in the sandwich and in the crackers and cereal. That should satisfy the body's need for carbs.
Hope this helps you. Let me know how it works out.
A faithful listener. God bless.

I got your letter today from WITW and you talked about the blog weight-loss challenge, so here I am. Here is the challenge. I will lose at least 10lbs by June 23rd when I attend worship at Harvest and you need to match that. Are you up for the challenge? Can you take the heat? Be tough, be strong and do what you know you need to do.
Serving for Him,
Marsha

I'll pray for you. Food is always there and we need to eat it. Salads get dull, but they really fill you up. Eat the whole thing with olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, red onions. Also, popcorn (the whole bag)with a salad and you'll be full for hours. Thanks for the truth I get to hear through you almost everyday.

Cutting 300 calories/day from your diet will increase your chances of weight loss. Eating more whole foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grains are nutrient filled but not calorie dense. Drinking half your body weight in oz./day keeps the joints and intestines lubricated. Shouldn't exceed calories in vs. calories out. Find out your BMR (calories needed just to function each day without exercising). IE. a 6'2" male at 211 lb. needs 2000 calories. If your not exercising that day reduce by 300 calories.

James....sounds to me like your trip caught up with you?? I know you are hearing what works...but what works is eating less more often. Smaller meals 4-6 times a day so you don't feel hungry. Feeling hungry gets us in the kitchen and snacking! Eat less breads (not NO breads) less sweets and less fats. We need carbs, sweets, and fats, but not in the quantity we eat them in this country. Also, sounds like you hit a plataue?? I did this type of diet years ago (YEARS)and it worked, but was not a quick fix.... drastic diets lead to yoyo dieting and more weight gain in the long run... I agree with Denise...increase the aerobic type exercise...
Hang tough and keep prayin'

James, if you are reading this, then know that these are meant to be words of encouragement. I know you don't need any more tips on how to lose weight. I think most of us know what to do. It's the doing it that is hard. But I know that God is with you. I know it because I can see it when you preach. We continue to pray for you, that God would give you health and strength to lead us. I know that wedding is coming up soon. I am thinking that this is a different issue than looking sharp in the wedding photos. Something that transcends that and on a different plane. Please continue to pray for God's strength and to be ever more controlled by The Spirit. Maybe you could pray the same for me? He hears and answers, our good God.

I hold nutrition in high esteem, because, if you happen into much of the information out there, credible stuff -- you'll find out that there are a lot of toxins in most of what we eat/ingest. My biggest concerns are the ones that claim health and weight-loss benefits that supposedly superseed all the others, like breads, vitamins & dietary supplements, health drinks, and so on, all the while having bad stuff under the 'other ingredients' listings on the back of the label. Bleaches, glues that are in supplement capsuls, hydrogenated oils & other catalists that do not digest properly and hang out idlely or toxic in the body.
Me, I can lose weight anytime I want to. I have a moderate metabolic rate and I get on an all fish - chicken - veggie diet, with some steak
-- all in small portions -- considering that there are folks in other societies that do fine eating far less than the average American.
Oh, & water, water, water -- substituted for any & all drinks. I also drink rice milk rather that milk and soy milk, as soy significantly elevates estrogen levels, & I can't be down with that.
A good aid to eating smaller portions is to take an enzyme supplement with your food. Actually, they are good to take whatever your diet. Enzymes break down your food so you get the stuff you need into your body, and bad stuff gets broken down, too, so as not to stick around in your body. You can get rid of it. They also break down proteins to help protein synthesis to your muscles while breaking down excess to be moved out of your body -- keep you balanced. I use NuZymes -- you can google it.
There is a website called Healthline that takes big measures to eliminate toxicity from their many supplements, which usually, again, are found under the 'other ingredients' section of most all vitamins and health food stuff.
There are also appetite surpressants, but I do not know how healthy those are. There are probably some out there that are healthy.
That's my gig on weight loss & nutrition. I hope that it is helpful.
There are some good recipies up above.
God bless,
Travis

James, stay in the race, Brother. It's a new day, a day that the Lord hath made. Follow your plan, one hour, one minute, if that is what it takes, at a time. He is with you. Our prayers are with you.

James,
Ask God to help you to be able to recognize when you are really hungry and then eat within the boundaries of hunger and fullness. When you feel that urge to crab food ask yourself if you are grabbing it out of habit or is your stomach really telling you to eat because you are hungry. God is teaching me to live within these boudaries and to control my portion sizes and that has really helped me to lose weight.

James, another new day! Hang in there. Work your plan for eating and exercise. We continue to ask God to strengthen you for this. He will. Do your part and He will do His. Looking forward to hearing the message tomorrow morning. We need your strong preaching in these dark days to help us stay in the race.

The Lord's Day! Keep on keepin' on, James. We are at His throne for you. I reckon you are tired by the end of Sunday. Stay firm with your health goals and don't give in to fatigue or someone's fabulous cooking. It's not worth it to cave in to the instant gratification. He is with you for the long haul. We would love an update on how it's going. Stay in the race!

Another day of walking with our Jesus. How do people who don't know Him get through life??? And what a powerful message at Harvest yesterday. We need your strong preaching of God's truth from His Word. Please, none of those "conversations" about God. Stand firm in Him today. We continue to pray for you, that God would help you with your health goals. He can and He will, as we sang yesterday with the Gospel Choir. Stay strong and finish.

He said He would never leave us nor foresake us. How good it is to remember that when times get tough. Lean on Him today, James, as you work with Him toward your goal. We are on our knees on your behalf.

I am short (4'11") white, grandmother. haha. I want to loose 15lbs. which seems so little. That % of weight loss isn't easy for me.
Water intake increases metobolic rate and hydrates our body.
Also a good (get ready) colon cleanse helps. If anyone has ever been on an antibiotic it causes an overabundance of yeast in the body which shows up in the mid section.
Last summer I rode my bike 5 miles 5 times a week, no change in my eating habits, drank water and dropped 2 pant sizes. We have to keep moving.
I would prefer we did'nt have food at my small group. We always eat at the end which is way too late.
Noting this, why do I do the thing I don't want to do and don't do the thing I want to?
Don't call me chubby. The truth hurts.
My prayer, Lord help us stay motivated.
