Hey let's hang out!
Posted by James MacDonald on February 13, 2007 03:45 PM | Comments (9)Hey--let's hang out:
I wouldn't know such cool lingo, 'cause I am definitely not cool, but I have cool kids.
Actually the idea of hanging is not really new. We used to have these guys on the edge of my elementary school yard, who would lay on the side of the hill, smoke legal and illegal substances and irritate, intimidate, or if needed, annihilate kids as they passed by on the way home from school. When challenged about what they were doing they would say, "we're just hanging!" The school I went to was called Hillcrest Public School, and these guys were called the Hillcrest Hangers. I wonder what they are doing today--probably still hanging or sadly, some of them were probably hanged, or maybe they moved to the coast to hang ten. ha ha All right--that's enough. I'm gonna hang up here.
I just wanted to say welcome to the site. I've been praying that Walk in the Word would increasingly become for you a 'trusted source of spiritual nourishment." I think part of that is getting to know the guy who is teaching you--so this site should help. I am so thankful to God for the privilege of teaching you the Scriptures, and I want you to know that I take that responsibility very seriously. Let's keep growing together, all right? Check back here often for other stuff about me/walkintheword/and life in general, as I see it.
If you have any questions, ask them, and if I don't know the answer I'll admit it--and that might be pretty often. james

James, I love the new blog! Great stuff. I, too, am a pastor and an avid golfer. I'm from Northern Ireland originally (see 2 out of the world's Top 15!) and am now in Charlottetown,PEI, Canada! Long story! You need to get here, let the girls do the Anne of Green Gables thing and we can go to Crowbusch or Dunderave golf courses!
Bless you, man, and thanks again for just being available for the Lord to use you!

I'm excited to see you are blogging...it is called blogging, right? I mean I didn't just show my age in my first blog-session did I? Anyway, it's awesome to have this as an additional resource...sometimes (by sometimes I mean always) it's nice to have a few brothers and sisters in Christ to lean on, to listen to, etc.
Awesome James...keep on preachin' it brother.

Pastor James,
I'm so excited about your blog. Yet another avenue to connect me with your ministry. You are a wonderful spiritual mentor.
I listen to your teachings everyday from your website. I value your teachings, they feed me. Your staff are fantastic, I have had some excellent biblical advice from them.
I am just finishing the study "I want to change, so help me God." Thank you, the part about our christian life being a walk, a journey, really spoke to me. I am working on not being one of those "exhausted" christians. One of the areas I am working on changing is ... self sufficency. But I am powering myself by Faith. ;) See I was listening, lol.
Thank you for sharing.
Blessings, Susan :)

Pastor James,
Thanks for this Blog, I can't beleive you have time to do this! Your teaching has been such a blessing to me and continues to help me to grow in Christ. I have "passed" you on to many of my friends and they are hooked now too. God keep and protect you as you "rightly handle His Word"

James,
Over a year ago I attended the Straight Up conference in Oakville. Not to sound overly dramatic but it changed my life. I wanted more. I recognized the cost and benefits of following Jesus. So for over a year now I have been regularly practicing my spiritual disciplines. I have experienced growth like I never knew before. I have also experienced the Lord's discipline. I now see it as training not punishment. It has definitely changed my conduct and character. Through this process God has now entrusted me with a group of people who share a similar journey. We are presently waiting on Him to see if He desires that we plant a new church in our community.
Thank you for your Godly example, thank you for your boldness in the preaching of the Word. It has definitely ignited my passion.

Hello brother,
I don’t really know why I am here. I am an active leader in my church but here lately something just doesn’t feel right, I’m not sure? I love the Lord with all my heart yet I have this feeling in my gut like when you're in high school and you think that your girlfriend is about to leave you. I am in a small storm now, maybe that is it. Anyway, I love you, your message and your teaching. If you read this I would greatly appreciate yours and your readers prayers, I will be praying for you all as well. Thanks for your heart and wisdom.
p.s. my family reads “Our Journey†together and we love it! Ya’ll keep up the good work!
